2 February, 2011 - Small car wizard Maruti Suzuki launched its much awaited premium saloon, Maruti Kizashi in the market today at a price of 16.5 lac (for MT) and 17.5 (for AT). The deliveries of the same will begin in March this year and the booking amount has been kept at Rs. 50,000 only. The fuel efficiency guaranteed in Maruti Kizashi is 12.53 kmpl (AT) and 12.45 kmpl (MT).



17 January, 2011 - Breaking away from the tag, Maruti, the hatchback maker champion enters a whole new arena of luxury segment with the launch of Maruti Kizashi slated for 2nd of February. Powered by a 2.4 L, four cylinder engine, Maruti Kizashi would be available in both automatic and manual transmission.

Suzuki, Japanese auto major and parent company of Maruti India, sells Suzuki Kizashi in the US and Japanese market and the response is overwhelming at there. The mid-size car, Maruti Kizashi, was showcased for the first time at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show than at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. In addition to this, the concept third Kizashi was introduced at the 2008 New York auto show. After showcasing the Maruti Kizashi at different Auto Shows across the world, it was launched commercially in Japan and the US in October 2009 and December 2009 respectively. The company also displayed the production model of the car at the biggest Auto Expo - Delhi Auto Expo 2010. This was a quick hint of launching the Maruti Kizashi in India too.



Maruti Kizashi is a sports sedan which is powered by a 2.4 litre DOHC J–Series engine. The D-segment car's powertrain is capable of producing peak power of 178 PS at 6,500rpm. The maximum torque from the engine is 230Nm at 4,000rpm in both type of transmission. Maruti Kizashi is available in Japan and the US standard with Front Wheel Drive and optional All Wheel Drive. The optional i-AWD system includes a driver-activated Front Wheel Drive mode in view to save petrol. It is equipped with 17 inch alloy wheel. The steering wheel has three spokes and electronically powered. The suspension system used is Macpherson strut and coil springs front and rear one would be multi-link type. Whereas all the wheels have disc brakes. Front brake is vented disc and rear solid disc.

The braking system is comprised of Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), Electric Stability Program (ESP) along with the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS).

Maruti Kizashi is to compete with Honda Accord and Toyota Carmy in India. The recently launched Maruti Kizashi is reported a little shorter than Honda Accord and Toyota Carmy but wider than latter.

The four door mid size sedan, Maruti Kizashi, is blessed with the same sporty and athletic looks as available in Japan. The seating capacity is 5 only including the driver. The front face of Maruti Kizashi is broad and bold with bigger upper grille, headlight and foglights. The upper and lower grille is having 'U' shape cluster which is also something unique to Suzuki.



Maruti Kizashi is a Japanese word that stands for 'a sign of great things to come'. And the new title is true with the design and features what the Maruti Kizashi has. The rear view of the car becomes more sporty with twin exhaust system. The rear side is also bigger and attractive as well. Maruti Kizashi MT The variant comes with a 6-speed Manual transmission. The car accelerated from stand still to 100 Kmph in just 8.8 sec. Mileage, Average and Fuel Economy

Maruti Kizashi, the flagship model of the Suzuki, has been loaded with a 2.4 litre DOHC J–Series engine with 4 cylinder 16 valves DOHC. The 2393cc engine is capable enough to produce 178 PS of peak power @ 6,500rpm. While it churns 230Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Maruti Kizashi boasts of direct ignition system (DIS) for powerful sparks directly to the plugs which results in ultimate fuel efficiency and less emissions. With the help of this and other engine technologies, the car gives 12.53 Kmpl (CVT) and 12.45 Kmpl (6-speed MT). The maximum fuel tank capacity of the car is 63 litre.


Power

The all new Maruti Kizashi is likely to be fitted with 2.4 litre DOHC J–Series, 4 cylinder 16 valves, DHOC petrol engine with both six-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), powertrain has same output with top torque delievery being 230 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The power and torque figures are much impressive as against other sedans in the segment. The engine is designed to house DOHC system that allows more comfortable breathing of the engine thereby the mill becomes more fuel efficient and powerful. The optional Continuously Variable Tranmission and all wheel drive variant is far better than manual transmission.

The maximum torque is 230 Nm at 4,000 rpm with systems. The new engine of Maruti Kizashi promises sporty handling and control along with zippy acceleration. Maruti Kizashi 6-speed Manual transmission (MT) accelerates from stand still to 100 Kmph in just 8.8 sec whereas Maruti Kizashi Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) variant accelerates from 0 to 100 Kmph in just 7.8 sec.

Maruti Kizashi Exterior PictureMaruti Kizashi is a four door D segment sedan which is designed with altogether different style. The front view of the vehicle is sporty and elegant. The front is not so low-slung and seems aggressive. The flat like nose of the car sports bigger regal honeycomb grille, jewel like projector headlamps and lower grille. The upper and lower grille are fitted in a 'U' shape design. Rectangular fog lamp cluster has placed separately from the lower grille. This also add to the appeal of the vehicle. The headlight cluster houses headlamp and turn indicators. Rain sensing automatic wiper are there at the lower end of the front windshield. Curves and slopes at the front are left in bold and beautiful style.

The outside rear view mirrors are in body colour without LED turn indicators and is supposed to come like that only. However, the outside rear view mirrors will be electronically powered. The door handle bars are also painted in body shade to add beauty to the vehicle. The rear view of the Maruti Kizashi seems more wider and upswing. The rear hatch does duty of a rear spoiler due to its design.

Like headlamps, the tail light cluster is bigger and houses brake light, rear parking assist and turn indicators. Maruti Kizashi is a four door mid size sports sedan which can house 5 passengers. The car's overall length is 4,650mm, width 1,820 and overall height is 1,490. That means it is shorter in length to Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. However, it is wider than these two Indian cars. The wheelbase of Maruti Kizashi is 2700mm while the ground clearance is 145mm. The front tread and rear tread are 1,565mm each. The minimum turning radius is 5.5mm.

A overhead console with sunglasses holder and centre console box are given as well. The rear seat row is a bit small for three passengers. You might blame big boot area for the same problem. However, the rear seat is split- folding and you can use the feature for creating more space for other uses like putting in more luggage etc. Door opening is also not that much wider as other Suzuki vehicles.

The front trade and rear trade is of 1565mm which tells wider space in seats. On the other hand, rear seat row is not that spacious as the front. It may be because of large boot space. It might not affect the headroom but legroom.

December 1, 2010 - Toyota Motors launched its highly awaited sedan, Toyota Etios today in Bangalore. The sedan can be yours for Rs. 4.96 lac (base variant) and Rs. 6.86 lac (top end variant) with a booking amount of Rs. 50,000. This is the first ever and the last (as per the company) low cost sedan from Toyota stable. The hatchback version, Toyota Etios Liva which was unveiled today will be launched in April 2011. The sedan will available in 6 colors comes with 5 variants namely Toyota Etios J, Toyota Etios G, Toyota Etios G safety, Toyota Etios V and Toyota Etios VX.

The sedan equipped with a 5 Speed MT boasts of a 1.5 liter DOHC engine that offers 90 Ps of power along with 132 Nm of torque. The car offering a mileage of 17.6 kmpl is available for booking starting from today.

Toyota Etios PictureToyota Kirloskar Motor (KTM) launched one of its most innovative creation today at an event in Bangalore, Toyota Etios sedan and unveiled hatchback, Toyota Etios Liva. The booking of this new concept car is started in India and will be introduced in other countries thereafter. The delivery of Toyota Etios saloon version will start from January 2011. This compact car, Toyota Etios, is targeted at masses in India. As per the company, to develop this people's car, over 2,000 engineers were engaged to give it small size without compromising on the eye-catching interior, power, performance and higher fuel economy. At the Auto Expo 2010, the company displayed hatchback and sedan models of Toyota Etios and now finally the saloon version is launched whereas the hatchback version of Etios named Toyota Etios Liva is unveiled. The launch of this hatchback version is planned in the month of April next year. The company had worked hard to make Toyota Etios affordable and wished to use only domestic components for the same.

Toyota has promised to provide world class technology and quality with the Toyota Etios. The design concept for the car is Bold Simplicity which is referred to affordable luxury and functionality in one machine. The car will have to compete with the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Manza and Hyundai Accent. The company will produce around 70K units of the car per year. With its small car Toyota Etios, the company intends to grab a 10 per cent market share in Indian compact cars segment by the end of the current year.

This new innovation of Toyota, Etios sedan comes equipped with 1.5 litre petrol engine. The Toyota Etios sedan's engine will produce 90 PS of peak power at 5600 rpm. The engine generates maximum torque of 132 Nm (13.46 kg-m) at 3000 rpm. This simply indicates huge power hidden in this saloon from Toyota.

The shock absorbers at front are independent MacPherson strut while the rear suspension is non-independent Torsion Beam. The suspensions are very much similar to Toyota's Yari. The frames of the cars are rigid and strong with total weight of 930 kg.

The exterior of both the cars is sporty and sharp. Front face of the Toyota Etios saloon looks like a smiling face of human with dimples at cheek (headlamps). Upper smiling grille and lower grille can be identical to this model. At the back, a big size rain wiper and rear hood are provided which look very general. Both hatchback and saloon cars from Toyota have six spoke alloy wheels. Body colour rear side view mirrors, door handles and bonnet catch the eyes of the beholder.

Toyota EtiosThe instrument panel, including speedo and trip is placed at the middle of the dashboard while the AC vents are in round shape. The three spoke steering wheel comes in dual tone along with the rest of the interior. The dashboard of Toyota Etios hatchback is general while the one in the sedan's is quite appealing. Enough legroom and headroom are given in both models. As far as safety is concerned, it seems the cars will miss a lot apart from seat belts for all passengers.

Standard rear side view mirrors are in body colour along with door handles, rear cowl and bumper.

The front grille is Matte Black in case of Toyota Etios J and Chrome Ornamenting in all other variants. Toyota Etios sedan provides best in terms of size and boot space. The boot volume of the sedan is 595 Litres . The overall length of sedan variant is 4265 mm, width 1695 mm and height is 1510 mm. Wheelbase is 2550 mm and ground clearance is 170mm. Its fuel tank efficiency is 45 Litres and turning circle radius is 4.9 m.

The tyre size is 175 / 65 R14 for Toyota Etios J and Toyota Etios G whereas in Toyota Etios V and Toyota Etios VX you will find 175 / 65 R14 tyres.

Toyota EtiosToyota Etios Interiors designers tried hard to give stunning looks to the interiors of Toyota Etios and as a result a creative kind of output can be seen. However, the company failed to provide it eye-catching and eye-soothing appearance. Dashboard is a conventional type that houses instrument panel in the centre which can be easily read out by rear passenger. AC vents are at both end of the dashboard. There is enough storage space at dashboard facing front passenger. A touch-screen audio-system is installed in the middle of the console along with operating switches. Additional steering mounted audio controls are there provided for the convenience of driver.

Toyota Etios SteeringThe multifunction steering wheel comes in three spoke design. The base model doesn't possess power steering. Seatbelts are there for all passengers for safety reasons. The interiors of Toyota Etios are in dual tone which is a classic piece of designing. The seats are wide and comfy with sufficient backrest. Ample legroom and headroom is provided for easy and comfortable seating. Storage space at door pockets and glove box are provided in the car. Boot compartment is there in all the variants. Flooring is flat and sleek which also helps to sit comfortably. Rear roof lining is made thinner for ample headroom.
