Volkswagen has launched the New Polo in India, it was showcased at the Auto Expo 2010 but prices were not announced. It was first unvieled the all new 2009 Polo at the Geneva Auto Show '09. Volkswagen also unveiled the race version of the car that will participate in the Polo Cup. The Cup Polo is equipped with a 1.6-litre diesel engine that produces 130hp of peak torque and 250Nm of maximum torque. This racing car also comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, Sachs adjustable racing suspension as well as all the necessary safety equipment such as an FIA approved roll cage.

New Polo has some stunning design details, particularly the headlights and tail lights. The exterior surface got a lot of added attention but underneath well, quite a lot got taken away. No other car in this class has such a mature and high-end image as the New Polo. The New Polo 1.6 petrol has displacement of 1598cc and generates maximum power of 105 Bhp with maximum torque of 153 Nm. Both petrol and diesel models are available in 3 variants each - Trendline, Comfortline and top of the line Highline. Engineers were able to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle 7.5 percent over the previous model. The weight savings translates to a dramatic increase in fuel economy.
